Weeksville Watch Night: You Think You Grown by Chanel Dupree

We end our Harvest Festival with an intimate screening of Chanel Dupree’s award-winning documentary, You Think You Grown? Dismantling Adultification. This film sheds light on the origins of adultification bias and its direct connection to the amplified violence and dehumanization Black girls and women face today.

Torchlight Talk: Brooklynites by Prithi Kanakamedala

Dive deeper into Brooklyn's story with an enriching Torchlight Talk with historian Prithi Kanakamedala, author of Brooklynites. Artist Walis Johnson will join Kanakamedala, and together, we will explore the stories of four families from Brooklyn's 19th-century free Black Community.

Traditional West African Dance Class and Performance

We are teaming up with The Haus of Glitter Dance Company for a free traditional West African dance class and performance with live drumming in partnership with The Yeredon Center on Saturday, October 12th, at 12 p.m., for Weeksville's Green Farmers and Community Market. 

Session (3) with Summer School Radio

sessions is a space for deep listening, curated by Lovie of summer school radio.

sessions will transform Weeksville Heritage Center’s performance space into an experiential room for sound, featuring curated music and live performance tailored for deep listening, contemplation, grooving, and feeling. For session (3), Lovie will be joined by Laraaji, with sound by KARLALA Soundsystem.

For Nina

Join us at Weeksville Heritage Center for For Nina, a powerful multidisciplinary performance by VLA DANCE, celebrating the legacy of Nina Simone. Through an inspiring combination of vocals, dance, and piano, this production explores the themes of sisterhood, hope, love, and the liberative Black Femme experience.

Rest and Restore Yoga

Join us for our Rest and Restore yoga series led by Six of Sensate Wellness. We invite you to join us in this movement practice, and revitalize yourself in the beautiful communal restorative energy of the class.
